Images45 Blog:  According to his autopsy, Ryan Shay died of an irregular heartbeat and an elarged heart. 

Ryan was a former Notre Dame track star and collapsed at 5.5 mile mark of the Olympic Trials.

Jordan Fife breaks the 4 minute mile

Images6 Blog:  The 4 minute mile has been broken again.  Former Indiana State University runner Jordan Fife is the 300th runner in the world to do so.

He broke the record on Saturday with a time of 3:59.74

Kenyan runner wrestles with dilemma

Blog:  Here's another sad story involving a runner from Kenya.  David Karanja's dilemma is to stay and train in Canada or return to Kenya to be with his daughter.  Runners like Karanja are considered "rock stars" in Kenya. Once the violence began in Kenya, the runners have become "targets" for extremists.  The violence has already claimed the lives of 2 other runners.

A world-class runner struggles to train in peace

Blog:  I hate reading stories about Kenya.  So many bad things happening.  It's really amazing that these marathon runners ever find a way to train.

Here's a story about Kenya's Sammy Korir, the third fastest marathon man in history.  He's having a hard time competing with elite runners because he can't find a safe place to train.
