Socks-away for 500-year-old race

_44610895_redhoserace_2261 Blog:  The 500th Carnwath Red Hose Race will take place on June 22 in Scotland.  About 150 people are expected to participate in one of the world's oldest running events.

The 3 mile race was started by James IV in 1508.  The goal was to find the fastest runner in the village so that he could run the 3 miles to warn others of invaders.  The runner would wear red hose so that the people would be able to recognize him.
