Nanowired Clothes Could Power Gadgets

Images22 Blog:  Ever been on a long run and your iPod/MP3 battery died?   Most of us do forget to charge our gadgets every now and then.  When a battery dies, it is frustrating, to say the least.

A solution may not be too far off in the future.  Scientists at the Georgia Institute of Technology have created tiny fibers that generate electricity from body movement.  That means that you'll produce enough "juice" to power your gadgets.  Pretty cool, huh?

I just hope we don't all end up looking like the Borg from Star Trek!

Blog:  Runner's World unveiled a new home page for their website today.  One of the things they are promoting on the page is a way for you to get a customized training program called the "Smart Coach".  It asks you for a recent running time, the distance you ran, your goal distance, and how hard you want to train.  Based on that information, it gives you a training schedule to follow.

Looks pretty cool.  Click here to get your training schedule

Run the Boston Marathon without having to qualify or pay the entry fee

Images18 Blog:  This was taken from the Community Covenant Church's website:

"Community Covenant Church is again providing runners an opportunity to participate in one of the world’s premier marathons and, in doing so, help send children to camp.  For the third consecutive year, the church is accepting applications for two numbers in the historic Boston Marathon, scheduled this year for April 21.

Although some 20,000 people run in the marathon (26 miles, 385 yards), entering the event is difficult because of the large number of individuals eager to secure a place. In addition to the $150 entrance fee, the applicant also must have run a qualifying time at a previously certified marathon.

Runners who use the Community Covenant numbers do not have to qualify or pay the fee. However, in return for the numbers, runners must agree to use the opportunity to raise money for the church camping scholarship fund."

When fashion and running collide

Gi_0_zensahrunningskirt Blog:  As a member of the opposite sex, I can't contribute much of an opinion on this.  Just thought it was sort of interesting and funny.

Here's the press release headline:  First Seamless Running Skirt Debuts at Los Angeles Marathon

This was taken from the press release......

"This running skirt is not your typical pink running skirt. It has a built in lycra compression short which means no thigh bunching, and a non-elastic waist band eliminates chafing. Zensah Fabric®, a proprietary fabric, wicks away moisture, fights bacteria and odor."
